Afternoon Extended Sessions: (Pre-Registration Required)

- Cooking Through the Curriculum: Cooking in the classroom empowers children to love learning while engaging them in all facets of development. In this session, you will learn how to intentionally and purposefully plan cooking activities that not only support curriculum but also build classroom community, enrich high achieving students, and empower even the most struggling learners. The target audience for this session is teachers of PreK- 3rd grade students.

- Four Types of Reading Behavior: By identifying whether a student demonstrates accuracy and fluency when reading a passage, an educator is able to categorize the intervention needs of the student. Participants will: learn the four types of reading behavior present in every classroom, identify student needs in each of the four categories, and discuss instructional practices to improve reading. The target audience for this session is teachers of 1st-5th grade students.

- Getting Kids to Read the Words on the Page: By the time students reach upper elementary grades and middle school, we usually assume they have learned the basics of reading, but what happens if they haven't. How do we support students in the classroom that don't have foundational skills? Learn some functional strategies that can be used in the classroom with students on Monday. The target audience for this session is teachers of 4th-8th grade students.
