Growing Herbs, Three Ways
Sat, June 3, 2017, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM EDT
Whether you're a home cook or not, growing your favorite fragrant herbs is deeply satisfying. This full-sensory workshop will take you through a number of tantalizing herbs, allowing you to smell, taste, and touch a number of different varieties. In the process, you'll learn how to grow herbs three ways: in your home, on your balcony or terrace, or in an outdoor plot. And best of all—you'll get a chance to try some delicious dishes using some of the fresh herbs. All participants will get 20% off Storewide on Workshop Day at Chelsea Garden Center (not including Labor, Delivery or Sale Items) and walk away with a free 4" Herb in a Terracotta Pot.
About Summer Rayne Oakes, Homestead Brooklyn
Long-time houseplant enthusiast and environmental scientist-by-training, Summer Rayne Oakes, has spent most of her time outdoors—working on restoring forests, reclaiming mine sites, and monitoring stream water quality. That all changed when she moved to Brooklyn in 2005, where she began to bring nature indoors into her Williamsburg apartment; she now attends to over 500 houseplants. In 2017, she launched Homestead Brooklyn, a blog and YouTube channel to help people become more attuned to nature in the city through the simple things—from a potted plant to a walk in the Botanical Gardens.
