Event Details

Dear Growing a Wild NYC Program Participants,

Please join us for a Fall workshop to kick off Year 2 of the Growing a Wild NYC pollinator education and habitat restoration program: Saturday, October 24, 2015 from 9am to 3pm, starting at the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge (Queens) and ending at Ecology Village, Floyd Bennett Field (Brooklyn). We'll do some Year 1 debriefing, check out the educational pollinator garden that you and your students helped to create last year, and let you know about what's in store for Year 2 of the program.

In the morning we'll hear from Diane Corrigan (PS 179K) about program-related resources that she and Jasmin Andujar (PS 307Q/Pioneer Academy) developed over the summer while they were Teacher Rangers at Gateway!

We'll get staff and program updates from Ranger Dan and his team about field trip and classroom visits this year, and habitat restoration work being done at Jamaica Bay.

We'll also hear from Maureen Regan at Green Earth Urban Gardens about how you can create flourishing pollinator gardens at your schools.

In the afternoon, we'll head over to Ecology Village at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn, which will be the site of seed collection and planting this year, for reasons we'll explain on the 24th.

If, for any reason, you CANNOT make this workshop, please let Emily know as soon as possible.

PLEASE NOTE: We can provide rides to Floyd Bennett Field from the Refuge but you must provide your own food for the day, and transportation to and from the Refuge.

Please dress for the weather (wind, cold, or rain).

Please let us know if you have any questions:
