Event description

Description

Is your green thumb itchy? Although it's still a little too early to start seeds for outdoor edible gardens, it's the perfect time to grow sprouts and microgreens indoors! Sprouts are sprouted seeds, a delicious ingredient that you can grow at home in as little as 3 days. Microgreens take a little longer, and are essentially tiny seedlings harvested when the first set of true leaves appear. These flavor-packed and colorful little plants add just what's needed to brighten a winter meal.

In this class we will go over techniques for safely sprouting a variety of seeds for edible use and tips for growing microgreens to the perfect, delicious height. We'll have a tasting at the end of the class so you'll have a better idea of what you want to grow in your own home. You'll go home with a jar for sprouting seeds, a tray for growing microgreens and seeds of your choice.

About the Instructor: Breanne Heath is a certified horticulturist and experienced edible garden educator who loves growing, and teaching others about growing plants!
