A portable garden. The Grow Pail is a plant container with a built-in water reservoir. The foundation of the system is a five gallon bucket. It is inexpensive and simple to make, durable and requires minimum maintenance.Commercial systems available at the big box stores cost $30 to $60 and weigh 120 pounds. A grow pail with soil and water weighs in at 40 pounds. Great for growing vegetables, herbs and flowers.
Market Gardener David Strawderman will be presenting the workshop on Saturday April 19 from 10 to 12. All materials required to fabricate your own system will be provided along with a step by step instruction sheet. The workshop with cover container gardening, a history of the Grow Pail and hands-on construction of your own Grow Pail. There will be ample time for questions and hopefully answers. Suncoast Co-op is hosting the event. The fee for Master Gardeners and Suncoast Co-op members is $15.00 (50% off the general attendance price).
