Description

This course will prepare participants to understand a wide range of crisis intervention services. Fundamentals of Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) will be outlined and participants will leave with the knowledge and tools to provide several group crisis interventions, specifically Rest, Information, and Transition Services (RITS), Crisis Management Briefing (CMB), Defusing, and the Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD). The need for appropriate follow-up services and referrals when necessary will also be discussed. This course is designed for anyone in a position to deal with the effects of traumatic stress, including first responders, healthcare and mental health workers, and clergy.

This course is approved for:

  • 14 contact hours of continuing education for social workers (Michigan approval no. 012017-02; Ohio approval no. MCST081740)

  • MCOLES 302 Funding for police officers

  • State 911 Committee Dispatcher Training Fund (Michigan) approval number TTS 201707A
