Groundswell is a farming show and conference, designed by farmers for farmers to educate and inform the industry about no-till (a.k.a. Conservation Agriculture) and soil regeneration in arable and mixed farming situations.
Groundswell 2017 is being held over two days:
Wednesday 28th June – “Grass-Fed Day”
Thursday 29th June – “No-Till Day”
2017 sees the first Groundswell ‘Grass-Fed day’, which focuses both on re-introducing livestock into the arable rotation, as well as growing and finishing animals on a pasture only diet. The day will be focused on a conference with talks from livestock & soil experts and also feature mob-stocking demonstrations and a rainfall simulator presentation.
The second day, the “No-Till Day”, like last year, incorporates field-scale demonstrations for the leading direct drills on the market and a conference with speakers providing insights into no-till farming from around the UK and the world. There will also be a number of exhibiting organisations with products and services such as cover crop seeds, precision agriculture, nutritional supplements and specialist machinery and agronomy. This year there is a ‘Soil Tent’ with a soil pit in it, amongst the standing cover crop and direct drill demonstrations, where there will be various talks throughout the day including a “Con-ver-sation Agriculture” Q&A session. Attendees have the opportunity to see the drills working in a real life situation and compare and discuss with the manufacturers.
The key aim of both shows is education; every farmer should leave having learnt how they can improve their farming practices, reduce their costs and improve their yields in the long term, making the best use of the 4 free inputs: rain, sunlight, air and soil. With these aims, the speakers, the drills and the exhibitors all have a part to play.
We look forward to seeing you at Groundswell in June!
