Event description
Take a tour through some common groundcovers and learn about alternative plants that are all low maintenance!

About this Event

Are you the low maintenance type?

Join us at The City of Allen's Sustainable Landscape Series.

Though sometimes an afterthought in thinking about our landscapes, the use of groundcover plants can often solve many design problems, and do much more than just cover bare ground, use less water, and take little care.

We're in the City of Allen for this presentation with NHG's Rusty E. Allen. Part of the city's Water Conservation efforts and programming, we'll be covering the best of these solution plants, some more commonly used, some not. We'll survey the common mondo and monkey grasses, sure, but we'll also detail the many specialty plants that can give you more choices, and also look at other plants that are typically thought of as perennials and shrubs that can serve a groundcover purpose, too.

Groundcovers can do much more than reduce the size of our lawns. Be with us in Allen to expand your idea of the groundcover in this FREE class!

The City of Allen's Sustainable Landscape Series

The Series is back for the spring of 2020. This year, the entire series builds upon the beginning classes and is best if attendance can occur for all the series. The speakers vary with topics, however, all speakers are professionals with several years of education and experience in the horticulture industry. This entire series is designed to give the resident successful and sustainable gardening practices using less resources. Most classes are free, however, you must pre-register.
