Our upcoming installment of Grist for the Mill will focus on contemporary visual art and will feature:

  • Joan Young, Director of Curatorial Affairs at the Guggenheim Museum
  • Tom Friedman, Internationally recognized conceptual artist
  • Kambui Olujimi, Interdisciplinary artist, exhibiting at MASS MoCA
  • Moderated by Eva Fierst, Curator of Education at the UMASS Museum of Contemporary Art

Discussions will focus on the evolving work and identity of Artist and Art Institution, both internally and externally, and also in response to our complex, evolving environment - be it socially, culturally, or politically. In essence, what are the issues and questions that both artists and curators are responding to with consideration to our changing social climate – and how does this influence and inform the crafting of one’s work and exhibitions?
