Event description

Description

Join us as we explore ways to create opportunities for adopted children to grieve their losses, learn easy tips to support kids, and also gain confidence in your ability to navigate your family through loss.

Leading this workshop will be Jamie Sanders, a therapist based in La Crosse, WI who specializes in the area of grief and loss.

Feelings of grief are natural and normal for children and parents after adoption. Adopted and foster children, no matter what their age, embark upon their newly changed lives facing multiple losses. For example, they may have lost people and relationships, familiar places, smells and routines, or objects that give comfort. Many children grieve over the loss of families they have never known. Children and parents may also be experiencing ambiguous loss, which is a term that is used to describe the grief or distress associated with a loss in which there is confusion or uncertainty about that relationship.
