Event description

Description

The GridFWD event for 2019 will be hosted at the Benaroya Symphony Hall in downtown Seattle, Washington. The main event will take place October 8th and 9th, with special trainings and tours on October 7th.

This year the breakout sessions of the event will be organized into three themes:

Modernization Best Practices - Success is out there. We’ll bring the best together under this theme: recent industry insights, successes and concerns. The sessions will start with the broad assessment across transmission and distribution, and then dive into the current state of DERMS, DERs, interoperability, cybersecurity and more.

Culture of Innovation - You can teach an old dog new ways to match customer expectations with organizational priorities. This theme will walk the walk to creating a culture that embraces and supports innovation, creates and supports teams, and drives successful pilots into full deployment. Come share and discuss how to create organizational culture that embraces innovation and change.

Markets & Models - It takes more than software, sensors and switches to run the digital utility. External factors in the market impact progress for grid modernization. Take part in an exploration of the latest trends in business models and energy markets that support grid modernization, the expansion of renewable energy commitments, and the evolution of regulatory frameworks.

Beyond dozens of breakout sessions and panels, and more than 100 dynamic speakers, you can also look forward to:

--In-depth training and grid modernization tours on Oct 7, including a workshop with Smart Energy Consumer Collaborative on Engaging and Empowering Consumers and tours of SCL's Denny Substation and UW's Clean Energy Institute
--High-quality networking reception and multiple meeting breaks
--Small group deep-dive discussions
--Rapid-fire sessions on innovation

Join leaders from regional utilities, innovative solution providers, regulatory agencies and governments, modernization subject experts and other stakeholders who are working together to effectively progress the region’s energy systems.
