Description

Ever wanted to know more about HIV or what it means for us young people? Then join Greg'ry Revenj and Blossom Brown for The Life After Diagnosis Tour: Baton Rouge!

Far too often we are shown images of people living with HIV that don’t look like us and we think, I’ll never get this disease, that will never be me. Though deep inside we still carry the fear and stigma that the disease created in the 80’s. Now it's 2016 and we as young people and people of color carry the largest diagnosed population. It’s time we speak up about the disease, talk to friends and family members and stop HIV in its tracks.

The event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:30pm. Refreshments will be served.

Greg'ry Revenj was diagnosed with HIV in 2014. After diagnosis, Greg was desperate to find a story he could relate to, someone that looked like him, who was living with HIV. The storyline didn't exist. Revenj found his calling and where he fit in and was ready to create a path of his own. In August of 2014, Revenj was given the cover of HIV Plus magazine and launched himself head first into the world of HIV positive advocacy.

Blossom Brown knew there was something different about herself, but it wasn’t until she was about 19 years old that she realized she might be transgender. It wasn't until she moved out of her parents house that she began her transition. After applying to nursing school six times and receiving rejection notices despite having excellent grades, she met Caitlyn Jenner and told her her story. Brown could hardly believe it when she recieved an invitation from Caitlyn and Ellen Degeneres to appear on the Ellen DeGeneres Show where she was awarded $20,000 for nursing school. She believes in the power of living one's own truth. The decision to live openly comes easily to no one. Change is coming and I know that the power of sharing our truths is an enormous part of helping that change come. Even despite the real challenges I experience in being public, I have not one regret and am standing strong in my truth.
