MobileK.it held our second set of mobile workshops in LA during TechJobsLA event in March which was an astounding success. All three classes sold out in 15 minutes! Now we're doing our third event as part of a series of world class UX and developments experts to LA to teach in-depth topics and trends.
We're happy to announce our third workshop series with Greg Nudelman! We're also proud to have Artisan Creative and M-GO as partners in our workshop.
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
How do you create best-of-class customer experiences in the native iOS 6, iOS 7 and Android 4.x mobile and tablet environments and mobile web? In this workshop students will use Mobile-First design principles to learn the practical modern agile UX methods and best design patterns and strategies for each platform, with special focus on critical elements of iOS and Android mobile apps: homescreen, search, navigation, forms and workflows. Majority of the workshop will be activity-based, focusing on hands-on applications of user-centered design approaches such as storyboarding user scenarios, user testing of paper prototypes using Rapid Iterative Testing and Evaluation (RITE) and practical application of mobile design patterns.
Each registration includes a copy of Greg's new book, Android Design Patterns: Interaction Design Solutions for Developers (Wiley, 2013).
TAKEAWAYS:
1. Pick the best design strategy for each platform: iOS 6 & 7, Android 4.x and web.
2. Distill the experience down to essentials; re-invent your interface with mobile-first approach.
3. Document use cases and personas in context using storyboards.
4. Select the right design pattern for homescreen, search, and navigation to drive the desired user experience.
5. Design usable and effective mobile forms and workflows.
6. Create designs that work with cutting edge mobile design patterns (Geo-location, Multi-Touch/Motion, Faceted Search, Parallel Architecture, Voice, etc.).
7. Use new mobile patterns that are just around the corner (Image Recognition, NFC, etc.).
8. Create immersive experience using lessons from popular mobile games like Angry Birds.
9. Create wireframes for the core pages of your app using sticky notes.
10. Make light-weight guerrilla Rapid Iterative Testing and Evaluation (RITE) the core of your design process.
