Event description

Description

When you think of Greenwich Village, what probably comes to mind is its more recent history as the home of jazz and a bohemian counter culture. But "The Village" has played a major role in the history of New York City's growth, repeatedly inventing and reinventing itself.

One truly hidden development is that, as nearby Little Italy shrinks in size and Italian cultural relevance, Greenwich Village has been a major beneficiary. What remains of the great Italian immigrant wave of the late 1800's and, in turn, the culinary expertise they brought with them, has shifted west from Mulberry Street to the neighborhoods surrounding Bleeker Street and MacDougal Street.

As your host, I will deliver a carefully curated dining experience, consisting of Italian osterias, ristorantes, and pasticcerias, and I'll share fun and interesting history along the way! Put down the guide books. Stop spending countless hours cobbling together a bunch of restaurant ideas on Yelp and Googling "unique things to do in NYC". Instead, join me and discover the less obvious side of Greenwich Village, enjoy conversation among new friends, and do it all in true Foodie fashion. Buon appetito!
