The Greenville Zoo presents the Conservation Lecture Series:

Preserving and Protecting Madagascar Biodiversity

THURSDAY, JULY 19, 2018 
7:00 - 8:00 PM

Our guest speaker is Virginia Rodriguez Ponga, DVM, MFG Program Director

Dr. Ponga will speak about how the Madagascar Fauna and Flora Group works with the Malagasy Government to conserve the country’s rich species’ biodiversity. Hear about lemurs, for which the country is best known, but also learn about other unique species and how the local communities are working with MFG to protect them and their habitat.

Parking is in the Heritage Green parking deck (free after 5 PM). Lecture is on the first floor. Use the side entrance off of Academy Street.

Accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), the Greenville Zoo is rated one of the best tourist attractions in South Carolina, attracting 300,000 people annually. Operated by the City of Greenville, the 14-acre facility features wildlife from around the world, including orangutans, giraffes, monkeys and giant tortoises. Visitors can also enjoy one of the zoo’s most popular exhibits, the Reptile Building, Ektopia, which is home to a variety of lizards, frogs, turtles and snakes.

The Greenville Zoo is open seven days a week, except on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
