Event Details

Join GreenHomeNYC for a special tour of New York City's very own Solar RoofPod at the City College of New York!

With the expanding global awareness of what it means to be energy efficient and the perks of a "greener" built environment, comes the opportunities to explore and research the quantitative results of sustainability. Grab the chance to visit the rooftop micro-dwelling designed and built by City College's Spitzer School of Architecture students during the Department of Energy's 2011 Solar Decathlon in Washington, D.C.

The modular Pod was reassembled atop the Spitzer building and has become a hub of learning, growth and experimentation. The urban farm that now compliments the energetic Pod was brought about through the collaboration of Spitzer students and the on-campus High School for Math, Science, and Engineering. Join Professor Christian Volkmann as he helps New Yorkers understand another prism of an integrated system of urban infrastructure. Learn how we can all begin to address the difficulties of sustainable issues such as energy production and stormwater retention.

TICKET SALES end several days before the tour date, don't miss the chance to catch this amazing view!
