Visit the hydroelectric power plant in Grimsel, Innertkirchen
Walk into the Rhone Glacier
Learn about climate change & glaciers from Dr. David Volken, Glacier expert at BAFU (Ministry of Environment)
Welcome to our experience and hiking tour to Grimsel in the Bernese Alps. In this area of Switzerland, nature and technology go hand in hand. Come and explore how renewable hydro energy is produced. All of the water from the Grimsel catchment area channels runs through this power plant and is converted into electricity. This power plant, with its state-of-the-art operating system, reliably regulates the Swiss electricity grid. More information about the hydroelectric power from Grimsel: link
Experience the Rhone Glacier and unfortunate effects of climate change in an area where its impact is just too visible today. On top of the visit, we will have an opportunity to learn about the imapcts of climate change on glaciers from Dr. David Volken a Glacier expert at the Federal Office for the Environment. More information about the Rhone Glacier: link
This will be an unforgettable experience in an informal group of Buzzers. You will have plenty of time to exchange on sustainability and non-sustainability topics - especially during scenic train rides and on Saturday after an easy visit to the hydroelectric plant.
