Event description

Description

Just what you need – a regenerative night down on the farm! Jeanne and Verd Nolan of The Organic Gardener have welcomed us to their wondrous home, Middlefork Farm. Visit goats, alpacas, chickens, honeybees, vegetable gardens, and an orchard as we tour their stunning 4.5 acre demonstration farm. Fertile ground for hearing the latest buzz and cultivating relationships with sustainable sisters from North Shore Green Women AND Chicago Women Green.

Plus special guest environmental journalist and professor Amanda Little will share her new riveting book The Fate of Food: What We'll Eat in a Bigger, Hotter, Smarter World about the race to secure the global food supply and how we’ll feed humanity sustainably in the coming decades. The Book Stall will have copies available for sale during the event.

Fun fact: Amanda Little shared her book Power Trip: The Story of America's Love Affair with Energy at an inaugural event (co-hosted by NRDC) that planted seeds for North Shore Green Women back in November 2012!

Light snacks and drinks provided. Jeanne is even growing a huge salad just for us!

**See map below to find parking locations (off-site). Also, check out Metra trains that stop nearby on the Milwaukee District/North Line in Northbrook or the Union Pacific/North Line in Winnetka. Or post your interest in connecting with carpoolers on North Shore Green Women & Chicago Women in Green Facebook pages.
