Event description

Description

Alive Structures and Newtown Creek Alliance are hosting an informative panel discussion about green roofs and giving a sunset tour of the Kingsland Wildflowers rooftop meadows on a Broadway Stages building.

Industry experts and City Council members, Costa Constandtinedes, Rafael Espinal and Steve Levin who helped sponsor the Climate Mobilization Act, will lead an in-depth conversation about the myriad benefits of green roofs, their economic value and funding options.

Panelists also include Alan Steel, President & CEO of The Jacob Javits Center, who installed their 6 acre green roof one of the largest in the country as well as executives from Waste Management and Broadway Stages, who are continuing to build green roofs and create a green cooridor.

Speakers who will discuss funding options include representatives from Department of Environmental Protection as well as Elyssa Rothe, Director of PACE Policy at Greenworks Lending.

Hear what the Green New Deal means for real estate in NYC. Learn about the benefits to building owners, businesses, tenants, the community and the environment. Discover how this green technology is a formidable foe in mitigating climate change and making cities more sustainable.

Green roofs cool down cities, cut energy costs, reduce storm-water runoff, clean water, clean air pollution, absorb carbon emissions, promote biodiversity, repopulate pollinator species, and make our city more livable for all.

Ask your burning questions, network with leaders in the community and real estate industry and leave with more knowledge of how green roofs significantly help the environment, makes economic sense, increase the workforce and reshape the nature and the future of NYC.
