Event Details

This workshop provides training and opportunity for certification in the Green Industries Best Management Practices, GIBMPs, for those working in the lawn, landscape, pest control, or municipal grounds maintenance industries. Best Management Practices are focused on reducing non-point source pollution, particularly of water.

The Requirement
A State of Florida rule requires that BMPs be followed when using certain fertilizers in urban landscapes and commercial fertilizer applicators must be licensed.

Polk County has also adopted an ordinance requiring fertilizer applicators to be BMP certified beginning in 2014.  See that ordinance here.

The Certification
After successful completion of the post-test, a certificate of completion, honored statewide, will be mailed and may be used to apply for the state license. This training may also be used to renew many Florida pesticide licenses, see CEU info below.

See for more information and a digital copy of the manual.  Information on the online and DVD training options is also available using this link.

The Actual License
Please note that obtaining the license is a separate process.  Once you have passed the post-test and received your certification you will need to download and fill out this form and mail it in.

Alternatively, the new online system for licensing will also allow you to submit and pay for the form.  It requires setting up a login ID and password.  Start that process here.
