Green Friday Forest Bathing Walk
Event Information
Description
Beat the crowds on Black Friday by opting into a Green Friday instead! Jenny Harrow, certified Nature and Forest Therapy Guide, will be leading a two-hour forest bathing walk in the beautiful hills of Taylor Mountain Regional Park.
Forest bathing is a slow, mindfulness-based walk in nature. We will spend two hours exploring this practice that comes from Japan, both as a group and through some solo time as well. This is not a rigorous hike as we will be walking less than a mile in two hours. We will not be taking the trail that goes straight up the mountain but will be exploring some of the more mellow trails in the park.
This recent article from the LA Times provides a great summary of what to expect from a forest bathing walk: http://www.latimes.com/health/la-he-forest-bathing-20180801-story.html
Bring your family and friends that are visiting from out of town! This is a very relaxing and fun way to connect to the stunning land of Sonoma County, as well as a great opportunity to practice self-care during the busy holiday season!
Please meet in the main parking lot off Kawana Terrace by 9:45 to register. We will start the walk promptly at 10:00.
A hat and/or sunscreen are also recommended for sun protection, as are comfortable walking shoes and clothes that you don't mind if they get a bit dirty. If it raining, we will still be going on the walk and invite you to wear clothes that provide some rain protection. Please bring plenty of water for yourself and, if you like, a snack to share during our tea ceremony at the end. Nuts, fruits - any sort of trail snack that is easy. Not a requirement to bring. Also, we will be sitting on the ground a few times, so if you would like to bring a small blanket or towel, that is invited.
Parking is $7 or free if you have a Sonoma County Regional Parks Pass. There is some free parking off of Kawana Terrace that is all first-come, first-serve.
$20 for this 2-hour guided walk
