Solar Oregon is presenting a Green Energy series - free talks for those interested in learning more about the technologies and design of zero energy buildings. Solar Oregon is a non-profit educational organization leading the way to a clean energy future. These one-hour seminars will explore solar, energy storage, and energy-efficient equipment and design. Envisioned as a follow-up to Solar Oregon’s popular Go Zero home tours, these online talks will encourage a deeper dive into the technology and allow for Q+A discussion contrasting options to aid in decision making. Future talks include: Zero Energy Design, Battery Storage Systems, DIY PV Systems, Heat Pump and other Water Heaters, and Utility-Scale Storage.
All talks will be online, the first Saturday morning of each month, starting November 5, 2022 at 10 AM.

Speaker Bio:
Edward Louie works as a Senior Associate Energy Efficiency Engineer at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in the building systems and technology integration group on research projects related to heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, high-performance windows, and remote quality assurance via contractors taking photos of critical details and reporting test results.
Pacific Northwest National Laboratory is a leading center for scientific discovery in chemistry, data analytics, and Earth science, and for technological innovation in sustainable energy and national security.
Before joining PNNL, Edward worked as a residential rater/verifier/inspector for three above-code energy efficiency programs in the greater Portland, OR, and SW Washington area. Outside of work, Edward has been working on building a super energy-efficient off-grid all-electric tiny house on a trailer to gain first-hand construction skills and experiences with building and executing high-performance envelopes, installing solar PV and batteries, and more. When complete Edward will live in the tiny house to test whether it is possible to live off-grid with the designed energy systems.
Edward is passionate about residential energy efficiency technologies, building assemblies, and housing typologies.
This event is free and open to everyone.
