Description

Please check here to see the video of the Green Educator Course.

A diverse network of educators and sense of community is created through this fully immersive programme in which participants stay overnight on the Green School campus. For 4 nights, 5 days, attendees will experience green living at its finest while sleeping in Green Camp’s Lodge - a 2-story breezy, bamboo dorm and sharing some of the most delicious food on the island, prepared by Green School's amazing local kitchen team. Our Green School teachers and community members will provide our participants with an enriching educational experience.

5 Day Programme: ‘Bridging the Gaps’

The world is getting warmer and everyone in the world is affected by a common issue: climate change. But if this is such a big issue and the climate debate is everywhere, why are there so many climate deniers? What can we do in the design of education to bridge the gaps between the climate deniers and people who do act environmentally. What are the barriers to this pro-environmental behavior? This course will focus on the way we organise education so that we can create an environment in which students become more aware of the actions they can take to act environmentally.

‘As youth who will be inheriting this earth, it is our responsibility to make sure that our voices and concerns are heard.’ (GS Green Generation)

The solution is to take action, to start a conversation whether that’s on a small or a global scale. But how can we help students to take ownership of their actions in order to minimize the negative impact of these actions on the world? During this course participants will learn about the different learning strategies we offer at Green School to promote pro-environmental behaviour to our students and the wider community. There will be a focus on mindfulness to understand and facilitate sustainability, not only at the individual level, but sustainability at all scales. At Green School we see mindfulness as a core concept in sustainability science, practice, and teaching.
