New leadership is coming to Portland Parks & Recreation and Metro. The Portland Parks Foundation is gathering Portlanders for three evenings at Portland Center Stage to ponder how to build a parks and open spaces system worthy of the bigger city Portland is becoming.

Monday, March 11, 6:30pm to 8pm - State of the Union

Portland Parks & Recreation and Metro have new leadership. PP&R is launching its first new vision plan in 18 years, and Metro is readying its third major green spaces bond measure for the November 2019 ballot.

Monday, March 18, 6:30pm to 8pm - Albina Vision + I-5 Rose Quarter: A $500-million Parks Opportunity?

The Oregon Department of Transportation is readying a $500-million redo of I-5 through the Rose Quarter, building bridges and “lidding” portions of the freeway to reconnect the neighborhood. Albina Vision, a group of citizen activists wants to honor the pre-highway history of Albina by reconceiving the district to welcome African-American people and culture back with a 21st-century vibrancy. Can parks and open spaces merge these two futures?
