Event description

Description

Carolyn Crane, Vicky Pitman, D’Vorah Kelley and Lesley Johnson, Green Dot Trainers

Imagine a map of your community where each red dot on this map represents an act of power-based personal violence (physical or sexual violence, stalking, bullying, child abuse, or elder abuse). Now imagine adding a green dot in the middle of all those red dots on your map. A green dot is any action that promotes safety for all our citizens and communicates utter intolerance for violence. A green dot is pulling a friend out of a high risk situation, displaying an awareness poster in your room or office, or striking up a conversation with a friend or family member. A green dot is simply your individual choice at any given moment to make our world safer.

This 5-hour Bystander Training is designed to equip participants with the necessary connection, knowledge and skill to increase their proactive and reactive bystander behaviors. Appropriate for anyone age 16 and over, the training uses video, role-plays, and other exercises to maximize the level of engagement of participants and help them apply the concepts in the curriculum to their own lives and practice the skills they need to be proactive bystanders. Lunch and snacks will be provided.
