Event description
All That Philly Jazz Director Faye Anderson is a storyteller who is passionate about uncovering hidden places and untold narratives.

About this Event

Dozens of Philadelphia hotels and businesses made it into the “Green Book” over the course of the travel guide’s 30 years. The “Negro Motorist Green Book” was created with one goal in mind: to help African-Americans navigate Jim Crow laws in the South and racial segregation in the North. Today, some 30 “Green Book” sites still stand in Philadelphia, three of which are located in West Philly.

Faye M. Anderson is director of All That Philly Jazz, a public history project that is mapping Philadelphia’s lost jazz clubs and documenting the social history of jazz. For information about the #GreenBookPHL Project, contact Faye at greenbookphl@gmail.com.
