Event description

Description

Presenters: Colin Wellenkamp, Executive Director of the Mississippi River Cities and Towns Initiative, and Libby Reuter, Artist and Co-creator of Watershed Cairns.

St. Louis does business at the confluence of the 4th largest watershed on Earth. Global impacts of the Mississippi River are strategically crucial, but local understanding of “America’s Waterway” remains at a low ebb. This Green Biz Briefings Lunchen spotlights sustainability work that is turning this awareness tide, in our region and beyond.

Through the Mississippi River Cities and Towns Initiative, mayors of the 124 cities in 10 states along the Mississippi are addressing river issues in a collaborative that promotes river commerce, conservation and culture, for outcomes at a watershed scale. Exhibits along the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers of the sculpture and photography project Watershed Cairns demonstrate how the arts can make the case for sustainable practice, to benefit both business and nature.
