Join us for a discussion on the state of play and outlook of the Oil & Gas industry in Greece with Marina Petroleka, Global Head of Industry Research at BMI Research.

The conversation will be moderated by Angelos Gkanouts - Leventis, president of GEF.

Following a short presentation on the Upstream and Downstream sectors of the Oil & Gas industry in Greece, the discussion will focus and the bright spots and realities of the sector along with forecasts for its future development.

Marina Petroleka, Global Head of Industry Research / Head of Energy & Infrastructure Research

Marina Petroleka is Global Head of Industry Research for BMI Research/Fitch Information Services. She is based in BMI's London office where she leads ten industry teams of more than 60 analysts, based in BMI's offices in London, Singapore, New York and Johannesburg.

Her primary role involves providing strategic guidance and fostering thought-leadership between the different areas of industry research. She is also responsible for ensuring there is coherence between global macroeconomic and industry analysis and that BMI's forecasts and industry insights are consistently value added and ahead of the curve.

Additionally she also heads BMI's Energy & Infrastructure global hub. For nearly a decade her expertise has been in the energy sector, both the conventional and unconventional Oil & Gas sectors, as well as infrastructure development policy in North America, Europe, Africa, China and the Middle East.

Marina regularly provides expert commentary on major news outlets such as Bloomberg, Reuters, Wall Street Journal, CNBC and the BBC as well as speaking in leading energy industry events in London and internationally. She frequently publishes op-eds and analysis in global energy matters for industry publications.

Prior to joining BMI Research in 2007, Marina interned at the Organisation of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation in Istanbul; the Ministry of Merchant Marine in Athens; and the Office of the Political Advisor to the Commander, NATO HQ, Brunssum, Netherlands. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in War Studies, and an M.A. in International Security and Development, both from King's College, University of London.

She is on the Board of Directors of Young Professionals in Energy (YPE) - London Chapter; a Research Associate at the European Centre for Energy and Research Security (EUCERS), part of King's College London; and a senior member of the Greek Energy Forum, and the energy sector ambassador for the Hellenic Bankers Association.

Dr. Angelos Gkanoutas-Leventis, President, Greek Energy Forum

Angelos is an economist, with studies in the London School of Economics and the City University of London where he was awarded a PhD for his research on the financialisation of the oil market.

After gaining experiences in the consulting, marketing and banking sectors, he started his career in the oil & gas industry as a business development economist for Pertrobras, focusing on expanding its international portfolio. Since then, he joined BP as part of the commercial management team of a petrochemicals facility, overlooking a number of products, and has now moved into BP Shipping as a Commercial Performance Analyst.

Angelos is one of the founders and current President of the Greek Energy Forum, a non-profit organization with exposure on the industrial and political elites of the South East Mediterranean region, as well as established partnerships with national and European institutions.

Finally, Angelos also holds the position of a Fellow in the CITYPERC Research Center (City University, London) focusing on research and publications on the energy and hydrocarbon markets, and he has recently published a book on oil shocks and the links between the wet and paper barrel (Spikes and Shocks: Palgrave, 2017).
