Let's face it, the pandemic has really made things challenging to connect with our families. Bottom line is, we miss seeing our school community.

What a way to celebrate our spring reopening than to open our doors (in a socially distant space of course) to:

• pick up a backpack and other GOLCS swag
• learn about summer programs
• answer enrollment questions
• learn more about our asthma program
• make a pledge to vote
• pick up a snack on your way out
• and much more!

Vote as if our children’s future depends on it - because it does.

It’s critical that our GOLCS community come together and vote in this election because the decisions of the Board of Education have many important effects on educational policy decisions, from setting school district goals to budgets. This April, we have to vote as if our children’s future depends on it - because it does.

TODAY MATTERS: Be Seen. Be Heard. Be Present is a South Ward Promise Neighborhood and Newark Trust for Education public awareness campaign initiative aimed at decreasing chronic absenteeism among students in the South Ward by arming parents, caregivers, and young people with the information and support necessary for students to attend school regularly.

The campaign consists of:

• A largely out-of-school public awareness campaign managed by the South Ward Promise Neighborhood.
• An in-school educator mobilization effort managed by the Newark Trust for Education. The effort will succeed by equipping parents, caregivers, and young people with the information and support needed in order to be seen, be heard, and be present every school day of the year.

BGCN empowers children to make good choices, sustain meaningful relationships with peers and caring adults, develop a positive self-image, and become productive, engaged members of the Newark community. Visit their table to learn more about their summer program!
