Great Discussions Program -Modern Israel’s struggles with the Palestinians
Friday, February 21, 2014 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM (PST)
Using Great Decisions DVD and Book, the program presents- Modern Israel’s struggles with the Palestinians have turned what was meant as a safe haven for Jews into the center of a decades-long conflict. The U.S. has stepped in as Israel’s ally due to the two countries’ shared values, providing years of unparalleled military and diplomatic support. But now those ties are being tested. The Arab Spring, Iran’s nuclear ambitions, failed peace talks, and Israel’s own decision to give Washington the cold shoulder have put new strains on the 65-year-old “special relationship.”
We begin PROMPTLY at 10 am.
You do not need to bring a paper ticket, just RSVP so we know the count and you will be registered.
When & Where
Great Discussions Group
Tony Massoud is the Leader of the group. We meet every Friday with a different topic using the Great Decisions 2014 program for the next 8 consecutive Fridays.
Great Decisions is America's largest discussion program on world affairs. The program model involves reading the Great Decisions Briefing Book, watching the DVD and meeting in a Discussion Group to discuss the most critical global issues facing America today.
Each year, eight topics are chosen by a panel of experts. This year we tackle critical issues from the relationship between Israel and the U.S. to China’s foreign policy. We have added two more topics including a presentation by author Pamela Olson who will present
Fast Times in Palestine:A love affair with the Homeless Homeland.
