Event Information
About this event
YOUR CHOSEN LOCATION IS THE BACHMAN LAKE GREENBELT
Each year, folks from around the world come together to watch, learn about, count, and celebrate our fine feathered friends. This year, we’ll enjoy the Great Backyard Bird Count at three nature-filled locations, right here in Dallas – on Saturday, February 13th.
We will have 2 sessions at each location:
• 7:30-8:30am
• 9:00-10:00am
Each will be led by a local birdwatching guide and will last about an hour – they will include a walk and an instructional bird count.
There will be a $6 admission fee. Proceeds will be used for materials in the construction of Bird Blinds and Blue Bird Boxes (for the Frasier Dam Recreational Area). The Groundwork Dallas Green Team youth will build these park additions.
COVID-19 Precaution: Note that these gatherings will be held entirely outside and will be socially distanced. Masks are encouraged to be worn at all times.
Supported by: Groundwork Dallas, Friends of Bachman Lake and Wild Birds Unlimited are the local sponsors of these walks.
A bit about the GBBC: Launched in 1998 the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) was the first online citizen science project, to collect data on wild birds and to display results in near real time.
