Event description

Description

You may have already heard, but Missouri is in the path of the Great American Solar Eclipse. The projected path of the total eclipses passes just south of the Danforth Campus and the Medical School.

The Office for International Students and Scholars is organizing a day-trip in connection with the Great American Solar Eclipse to help students and scholars experience this once in a lifetime opportunity with one of the best views.

For just $5 plus convenience fees, we will provide the required ISO approved safety glasses along with transportation to Washington, Missouri where we will participate in the Washington area festivities. Washington, Missouri is a great destination for the solar eclipse as the city will experience over two and a half minutes of total solar eclipse.

Please read the following before registering:

The plan is to leave the Washington University campus between 10:30-11:00 an, however we may need to leave as early as 10:00 am depending on traffic predictions. The decision on the final departure time will be made two days prior to the tour.

The plan is to go to Washington, Missouri, however with predictions that many millions of people will visit the area, we may head to Augusta, Missouri as a back-up plan. The decision will be made based on updated traffic predictions. Augusta will also experience over two minutes of the total solar eclipse.

The plan is to take a school bus to the destination site. The tour bus will keep the cost down for everyone. However, do keep in mind that the tour bus will not be air conditioned. Furthermore, the day will be spent outside, so you must be prepared for the warm conditions. Our office will provide bottled water and ice for everyone. If you are concerned, do know that there will be more than enough shade for everyone. Even if the day is hot in the morning, the weather will cool drastically during the eclipse.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Jason Marquart at marquart@wustl.edu
