Tour Description

Tour Host: Stanley King

Children play where a car graveyard once lay. An industrial slum changed into a vibrant city gem that New York planners voted the most liveable place in North America. Tour one of Vancouver's first pedestrian spaces, and one of the first where people, including youth, steered the urban design.

Tour Host Bio

Stanley King was one of Granville Island's architects and conducted the original public design program.

Jane's Walk

Jane's Walk is held simultaneously in cities across Canada and other countries around the world. Inspired by Jane Jacob's and her belief that in order to know your city "you have to get out and walk," Jane's Walk is a simple idea. It is free, it connects people and builds communities by promoting urban literacy and citizen engagement.
