Join us for Building Capacity in Arts Education

This hands-on workshop serves as an introduction to the Visual and Performing Art Standards and how to apply them to in-school and out-of-school projects. Learn about best practices in program development and how to design curriculum samples that show off your strengths.

PRESENTER:
GILLIAN MCCARTHY is Program Manager with the LA County Arts Ed Collective. Previously, she  was Associate Director of Professional Development at Inner-City Arts where she oversaw the implementation of creativity and arts programming for classroom teachers, teaching artists and graduate students. Gillian also served as Associate Director of the Artist in Residence and Teacher Partnership program for the Music Center of LA County’s Education Division where she facilitated extended, in-depth artist residencies at schools across Southern California.

LA County Arts Commission: Grants & Professional Development

The LOS ANGELES COUNTY ARTS COMMISSION fosters excellence, diversity, vitality, understanding and accessibility of the arts in Los Angeles County. The Arts Commission provides leadership in cultural services for the County, encompassing 88 municipalities including funding and job opportunities, professional development and general resources. Its Organizational Grant Program awards $4.5 million to 380 Los Angeles County based arts organizations each year. This funding provides support to ensure arts organizations continue to offer cultural services to the diverse population that comprises Los Angeles County. Grantees can also take advantage of scholarships for courses and workshops relating to the organizations needs.
