2017-18 Nonprofit Management Workshop Series: Grant Writing - Prepare for Next Year's Grants

Having strong local partners that support small businesses is key to the success of New York City’s commercial districts. Our Nonprofit Management workshop content is curated to help staff and board members at nonprofit economic development organizations that execute commercial revitalization projects in their neighborhoods.

Description:

As application deadlines for next year's grants are fast approaching, join us for a full-day workshop with Pat Richter from the Support Center for Nonprofit Management to review the fundamentals of writing a strong proposal and receive feedback from a grantwriting consultant to polish your narratives. There will be opportunities to share wisdom and tips with colleagues as well as ask questions that will benefit the group as a whole. Total course hours: 1 session, full day (9:30am - 4:30pm).

You will learn how to:

  • Increase familiarity with the language of proposal writing, the 9 basic components, and what information goes where
  • Increase skills in developing objectives and budgets
  • Learn the most common mistakes made by proposal writers
  • Learn what funders love and hate
