Event description
Attend this free workshop to learn about funding opportunities from Virginia Humanities for Southwest Virginia non-profit organizations.

About this Event

Why attend?

Since 1974, Virginia Humanities has awarded more than 3,500 grants to non-profit organizations exploring the history and cultural traditions of Virginia and its communities and the issues that matter most to Virginians. We hope to forge new partnerships resulting in new grants to Southwest Virginia organizations in 2020 and beyond.

Staff from Virginia Humanities will share:

  • Grant priorities and limitations
  • Guidelines and proposal requirements
  • Application and review process
  • Tips on how to create a strong proposal

Open to:

Representatives from any Southwest Virginia non-profit organization whose mission includes education, history, cultural preservation, and/or the traditional arts. The workshop is free.

Workshop Includes:

Lunch and a private tour of a new photo exhibition on the Virginia Folklife Apprenticeship Program on display at the Birthplace of Country Music Museum from March 6 to August 2, 2020. Over the past 18 years, this program has paired more than 150 experienced master artists and apprentices to pass along traditional art forms.

About Virginia Humanities:

Virginia Humanities is the state humanities council. We aim to tell the stories of all Virginians—or, better yet, find ways for people to tell their own stories. We want to connect Virginians with their history and culture and, in doing that, help bring us all a bit closer together.
