What is G.S.E.?

A don't miss opportunity for registered, groovy adults in Girl Scouting to network with their Girl Scout sisters, take some classes, participate in ceremonies, or just hangout and enjoy the Girl Scout camp experience with ADULTS only.

You can come for the weekend or just for the day on Saturday. We offer three, far out workshop sessions on Saturday and one on Sunday. Totally awesome workshops are offered by volunteers on a wide variety of topics: crafts, culinary delights, leadership enrichment, outdoor skills and more!

Join in special ceremonies and activities for opening and closing, SWAPS, a silent auction and a Saturday night special event.

This event is sponsored by Order of the Silver Trefoil Chapter #36 of Michigan.

Be there or be square! This is a totally RAD event!


$45 Weekend includes: event patch, lodging, Saturday evening activity & meals (Saturday breakfast, lunch & dinner & Sunday breakfast).

$25 Saturday includes: event patch, Saturday evening activity & meals (Saturday breakfast, lunch & dinner).

Arrival/Departure: Weekend participants should arrive between 4pm-7:30pm in the Dining Hall for check-in.

Saturday Only participants & late Friday night arrivals should arrive between 8am-8:45am in the dinind Hall for check-in.

The weekend concludes at 1pm on Sunday, May 5th

Bathrooms are not in Woodland units, but are in the central building.


Session 1

  1. Paintball Slingshots/Facilitator: Kyle Sevilla: You will learn the basics and safety points of a slingshot, and then get the opportunity to shoot paint balls at targets. Cost $4
  2. 70's Flashback/Facilitator: Mary Lou Behrendt: Tie-dye and recycle t-shirts for a new look. Bring 3-4 girl or adult t-shirts and sharp scissors to re-style. Cost $4.
  3. Games in a Backpack/Facilitator: Chris Spangler: The games will feature a variety of games. They will be for different speeds, locations, and group sizes, with the stipulation that they be fair, safe, and won't need a lot of prep. Basically games for all in your backpack. Cost $1
  4. Canadian Sing Ontario Sing Challenge/Facilitator: Elizabeth Fenton: "Around the World in 80 Songs." Travel the world through songs. This challenge is your passport to learn lyrics, melodies, and languages from around the world. Requirements and song sheets for all levels provided. Crest (patch) is included. Great World Thinking Day opportunity! Cost $5.
  5. EZ Knitting/Facilitator: Trang Walker: We will learn basic stitches using yarn with preformed loops and then make a cowl using a criss-cross stitch. No knitting needles or crochet hooks required! Please bring one ball of yarn with preformed loops, such as Bernat Alize Blanket-EZ Yarn from Joann's. Choose any color; however, be aware that it is harder to see what you are doing with darker colors. Cost -FREE!
  6. Cleaning Aromatherapy/Facilitators: Sarah Schultz and Leah Benard: Aromatherapy became popular in the 70's & this class will show you ways to use essential oils to create products that will save you money & enhance your cleaning experience in your home. We will be making 5 different products: fizzy toilet bombs, homemade poo-pourri, multi-purpose cleaner, glass/mirror cleaner & foaming hand soap. You will go home with your creations & recipes that will make your house smell like a dream while relaxing & destressing your mind. Cost $10.

Session 2

  1. It's All About Candy!/Facilitator: Leah Benard: Come join me as we learn about all the things you can do with candy. End-of-the-year awards, crafts, games & science experiments. Oh my! Some things we will do in class, other ideas will be on handouts to take with you. And, of course, there will be some sweet treats that were invented from the 50's-80's to enjoy. Cost $8.
  2. Beginning Crocheting/Facilitator: Karen Llewellyn: Learn the basic stitches of crocheting, which lead to endless hours of fun! Cost $1.
  3. The Dam Hike/Facilitator: Marianne Duvendack: We'll take a stroll to one of Camp Libbey's most interesting human-made features: the Independence Dam. On the way, we'll pass the climbing wall and zip line, and our corral, where a variety of critters have lived over the years. Cost - FREE!
  4. Canvas Art/Facilitator: Katie Beckett: Prepare to get messy and let your creative side shine! Come and learn 5 fun and simple ways to decorate a canvas! We'll be exploring crayon melting, chain pulling, paint pouring, paint splattering, and how to create a cool geometric design! *Bring your own box of crayons* Cost $8.
  5. Songs Through the Ages/Facilitator Chris Spangler: Learn traditional songs. Cost $1.
  6. Canadian Challenge-Zoe's Trek Around the World: Paris, France/Facilitator: Elizabeth Fenton: You will complete this challenge during the class, earn a crest, and be provided with a copy of the full options for each category. This challenge will encompass requirements for Active, Creative, Cultural, and Guiding categories. Great World Thinking Day opportunity! Cost $8.

Session 3

  1. Baklava Baking/Facilitator: Lisa Pelzer: Come join me in teaching you the ancient skill of creating baklava using a Lebanese family recipe (recipe will be passed out). I will demonstrate the art of preparing this sweet pastry. Time to relax & chat while baking. Then, we taste it! Allergen warning: wheat, nuts. Cost $5.
  2. Archery/Facilitator: Kyle Sevilla: Learn the basics of archery from a trained instructor, including safety rules, proper handling of equipment, and shooting techniques. Have fun as you practice and evaluate your skills. Do not wear loose clothing and hair must be tied back. Cost $4.
  3. Sea Glass Monograms/Facilitator: Stefanie Kuney: Create a personalized monogram shadowbox, with a one of a kind design... your own!! Enjoy making your own design with sea glass and pebbles. Bring a glue gun, a hammer and your ideas! Materials to make your design will be supplied, but please bring any special sea shells you may want to add. Please email me with what capital letter you would like to use in your design, fadingsunshine515@gmail.com. Think of first and last names, decor for children's rooms, gifts for friends or relatives, etc. Cost $10.
  4. Girl Scout History & Traditions/Facilitator: Joyce Fisher: Join this class to learn about our beginning and our founder. Stick around for ceremonial and camping traditions as well as songs, games and activities that have been passed down over the years. Cost $3.
  5. WHAT EVER!!/Facilitator: Beth Beckett: Do you have unfinished projects, crafts, or books? Then use this 2 hour Whatever Workshop to complete them. Tables & chairs will be available. Cost - FREE!
  6. Standard Sausage Pillowcases/Facilitator: Jen Malotke: Learn how to make a super cute pillowcase. Bring the following materials:
    -Body of Pillowcase: 3/4 yard of fabric
    -Cuff of pillowcase: 1/4 yard of fabric
    -Piping/trim (optional): 1 1/2 to 3 inches of fabric
    -Thread of your color choice
    *Sewing Machine would be helpful* Cost - FREE!

Session 4

  1. Campfire Cooking/Facilitator: Joyce Fisher: Come hungry! Sweet and savory treats will be cooked in a variety of different methods. Have you always wondered what a pudgy pie is or how to make a hobo packet? This class will answer those questions and more! Cost $8.
  2. No Sew Fleece Blankets/Facilitator: Lisa Pelzer: Bring your favorite size of material or (2) 1-yard pieces of fleece material (usually one solid/one pattern that coordinate but it's your choice or 2 yards of one pattern of fabric), fabric scissors, rotary cutter (if you have one), ruler & cutting board (if you have one). These blankets are easy for younger girls to make. They can also be cut into smaller sizes for animals as well. Very relaxing to make & allows for conversation while tying. Can be used for service projects for the elderly, veterans or animals. Cost - FREE!
  3. The Round Table/Facilitator: Karen Llewellyn: Come join the Round Table and discuss anything Girl Scout related you need to! Need advice? Come join us in this open discussion! Cost - FREE!
  4. Ultimate and Unique Cards/Facilitator: Kathy Bradley: With the fold of a paper and a small dab of glue, you can learn to make a simple card for any occasion. You will be making at least 4 cards. All supplies will be furnished. Cost $4.
  5. Multilevel Mash/Facilitator: Katie Beckett: Do you have a multilevel troop? Do you struggle to plan badges for all of your age levels? Sounds like the Multilevel Mash class is perfect for you! Come and learn how to mash badges together to fit your troop the way YOU need it to! Cost: $2.
  6. Icky Science/Facilitators: Stella and Amy: In the 50's, Watson and Crick discovered the double helix structure DNA. The 60's brought us space exploration. Slime was introduced to us in the 70's. And who can forget the DeLorean of the 80's, featured so prominently in "Back to the Future"? While we may not be able to reproduce the DeLorean or launch ourselves into space, we can explore some of the fun stuff science has given us and learn while we play. Cost $5.

Service Project

For various organizations, we are recycling by collecting: eyeglasses, wine corks, crayons (new, used or broken), and dried up markers.

We are also collecting NEW dental supplies (travel-sized toothpaste, full-sized toothbrushes, and floss).

Silent Auction

Recycle your unwanted gifts for a new cause. Please donate new or gently used items. You can donate individual items or create a basket. Silent Auction bidding will be available all day on Saturday; your identity will be kept secret and the auction will conclude at 8pm on Saturday. Payment by cash only!!


All merchandise must be paid in full by April 11th. Merchandise design is a black t-shirt with the "Through the Decades" logo pictured above!
