Event description

Description

The Everette Taylor Urban Farm at Mass Market is a project that celebrates food, community, and service. The project will become Lakeland Christian School's gift to the community as it grows into a resource in the city's emerging Design District.

The space will help children and their families understand how fruits and vegetables grow, focus on great-tasting nutrition through connection to food entrepreneurs, and provide education opportunities for Lakelanders and beyond. All in an urban setting that re-imagines how food can be produced on in the heart of the city.

In addition to raised beds for vegetable crops, the landscaping of the farm showcases the relationship between food production and pollinators like bees and butterflies, and illustrates the wide range of fruits from around the world that can be grown in Lakeland.

Join us as we honor the life of Mr. Everette Taylor, unveil a mural that celebrates the City of Lakeland, plant trees, and celebrate the hard work of so many who brought this project to life.
