Grand Masonic Day 2017
Sat, April 22, 2017, 10:00 AM – 4:30 PM PDT
This year marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of Grand Masonic Day, a day-long educational event founded by RW Bro. J. Morton Heaps in 1982 and organized by the Vancouver Lodge of Education and Research for the last thirty years.
This year’s programme will be a little different. To comply with its newly adopted bylaws, the Vancouver Lodge of Education and Research will hold its annual Regular Communication in a model example of brevity and harmony. In addition to two speakers on masonic topics, our keynote speaker will be Dr. Henrik Bogdan, Professor in History of Religions at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, and author of many books including
Western Esotericism and Rituals of Initiation.
We will also introduce the attendees to the concept of formal debate as a learning tool. Six brethren have agreed to research the question of the Chamber of Reflection but will not know which side they will be arguing until an hour before the debate. Attendees will be instructed in the rules of scoring and will be issued score cards. The final tally will determine the winning team which will be announced after the Junior Grand Warden’s address.
