Event description

Description

Let your child explore the world of contemporary art through Alabama Contemporary Summer Camps!

What is the difference between graffiti and street art? Why is public art important? How do artists get permission to create such colorful and lively scenes on public buildings and walls? Campers will discuss these questions and more before creating their own works inspired by street artists from Havana, Cuba, such as Mabel Manzano, El Sexto, Victor Mora and more. Participants will be encouraged to push the limits of design and symbology to create works of art that tell a story unique to them and their culture.

AGES: 13-17 | CAPACITY: 15 students | LENGTH: 3 hours | COST: $125 for non-members $100 for members

A camp constitutes a daily 3-hour session over a five-day period. Price covers the cost for all five days.

Registration is available here and at Alabama Contemporary Art Center. For more information, contact the Director of K-12 Education, Allison Skoda at 251-208-5657.
