Description

Note: If you were not directed to this page specifically, please take this short pre-registration survey to determine which of the two tracks you should enroll in before continuing with your registration.

If the survey linked you to this page, we have determined that Track 1 for New Teaching Assistants is the best fit for you. This track is appropriate for graduate students that are new to teaching at the University of Maryland, new to teaching in general, and/or whose TA roles will primarily be as a discussion/laboratory section leader or grader. If you have any questions about which track you should register for, contact Marissa Stewart at stewart7@umd.edu.

This pathway during orientation will provide you with:

  1. Practical training and tips for effective teaching as a Teaching Assistant
  2. Support in developing a teaching identity and philosophy
  3. Knowledge of campus resources for teaching, learning, and professional development

Attend plenary sessions, question and answer sessions with experienced graduate student teachers, and a series of interactive workshops on a wide variety of teaching topics. This event is hosted by The Graduate School and the Teaching & Learning Transformation Center.
