Event description
Women of Grace PCA (Cottleville, MO) learn about "Giving Encouragement to Refresh Hearts" with Mary Beth McGreevy - Spring 2020

About this Event

Giving Encouragement to Refresh Hearts: Discouragement is something we all face from time to time as we suffer the effects of a bad economy, bad health, failed business, rebellious child, troubled marriage, or being just plain weary. Sometimes we are discouraged not by something that has happened to us or to someone we love, but by something that we have done—or failed to do—habitual sin, weakness of character, disappointing behavior or attitude we have seen in ourselves. The apostle Paul knew the joy of being encouraged by other believers as well as the privilege of encouraging others. He wrote to his friend and fellow worker, Philemon, “Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints.” (Philemon 7) This retreat is about encouragement to refresh hearts, so that we might learn about the joys and means of giving and receiving that kind of encouragement with its source in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Mary Beth McGreevy, Guest Speaker: Although a homemaker by profession and a pianist by trade, Mary Beth’s passion is to help people know God in Jesus Christ through the study of his Word. With an MDiv from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, she served as a teaching leader for Bible Study Fellowship, taught women’s Bible studies at Covenant PCA and is an adjunct professor at Covenant Seminary. As an accomplished writer, she contributed to The ESV Gospel Transformation Bible and The ESV Women’s Devotional Bible. With the Rev. Dr. George W. Robertson, she wrote Bible study materials including Deuteronomy, James, and 1, 2 & 3 John, The Ten Commandments, Luke, and Acts. For more information, visit MaryBethMcGreevy.com.
