Event description

Description

In 2014, Governor Cuomo called yogurt the ‘official snack’ of New York State - but is this a good choice for the State? New York is the top producer of yogurt in the US, with more than 700 million pounds produced in 2013. Learn from one of the top experts in the field, Alexis Andiman, an attorney at Earthjustice, about how the organization is using the legal system to mitigate the environmental impacts of dairy farming, including those associated with increased Greek yogurt production occurring upstate. Environmental impacts include fecal runoff and contaminants from the production process - which can all be exacerbated by climate change. The panel helps provide insight on one of the hottest food trends, and what’s being done to address the environmental impacts.

Organic wine and vegan treats will be served.

Panelists:

  • Alexis Andiman, Attorney, Sustainable Food and Farming Program, Earthjustice

  • TBD

  • Moderated by Emily Wier, Co-Chair, Yale Blue Green NYC
