GpsGate has an almost two years presence in the heart of beautiful Budapest. Together with the Stockholm office we develop innovative software solutions for web based GPS tracking. The platform is successfully used by transportation companies, police and fire departments, service organizations and other businesses with mobile workers around the world (in 100+ countries). In the future with the “Internet of Things”, devices in even much larger numbers will be connected to the Internet. All those need to be managed and that is another market GpsGate addresses with its platform.

We are actively looking to expand our development team here in Hungary and this open house is a great chance to learn about GpsGate and how it is to work here as a Software Developer.

ABOUT THE TALKS

1. How GpsGate's IoT and GPS tracking solutions are used worldwide
Johan Franson, CEO and Founder of GpsGate, Stockholm

2. From monolith to distributed system; how and why we incorporated Kafka, Docker, and Cassandra within our software in order to scale out the system
Grzegorz Gut, senior C# developer at GpsGate AB, Stockholm

Your system usage is growing, the server hosting your application is running out of resources and scaling up is no longer an option? Great, you have a popular product and now it's time to scale it out! Once a system can no longer scale-up it is time to scale-out and that often requires new tools and design decisions that were not previously needed.
In my talk I will explain why we have chosen Kafka, Docker and Cassandra, as well as how we have integrated it with our system.

Greg is a senior software engineer at GpsGate. He is currently a member of the GpsGate cloud team which is responsible for designing and implementing GpsGate 5, the scalable and distributed GPS Tracking and IoT Platform.

3. Http server push and Akka.NET, the way to a fast API
Dénes Bodrogközy and Simon Le Ster, developers at GpsGate Kft, Budapest

What do you do when a customer wants you to scale from tracking 400 deliveries a day to over a million? Discover how the GpsGate team built an event-driven, scalable web API designed to serve millions of entities to thousands of clients with the Akka.NET framework. Learn how to pair an event-driven service with HTML5 server-sent events framework to provide a responsive, always up-to-date user experience. Laugh at the missteps we took along the way.

Dénes and Simon are full stack developers of the Budapest office.

The talks will be delivered in English as some of the speakers come from the Stockholm office.
Space is limited. We politely decline recruiters from this event.
