Visit the quiet island that sits in the East River like an urban oasis. After a little ferry ride, we will fully explore the whole island and its history, and stop to enjoy some food. (Ice cream!) Then a ferry to Brooklyn and a walk along the East River with views of the bridge and skyline. No New York City walk is quite complete without a walk across the first grand piece of pedestrian infrastructure, the Brooklyn Bridge, allowing a return to our start in Manhattan.
The 10:30 AM ferry ride is free, but reserving an e-ticket is recommended. Tickets for this date should become available sometime in June.
We will meet at the start in Liberty Park, the elevated area of the World Trade Center where the damaged sculpture, the World Trade Center Sphere, is prominently visible.
