Description

Design people, art director people, writer-type people, strategy people, motion design people, video and editing people, animation people, website people, cheerful people, people who want to do good in the world, and people who can say funny things in stressful situations (like maybe during a colonoscopy). We need those types of people.

What's Good Measure?

Good Measure connects people with opportunities to do good. Each local event launches new nonprofits or revitalizes old ones, bringing creative professionals together from all over their city to collaborate. And we do it all in less than 72 hours. So, like, really fast.

What's the schedule?

We'll kick things off on Friday night—gathering at BASIC in San Diego to chat through the project, meet the team leaders (design, web, video, strategy), and run through a workshop or two with the project founders. That night, we'll spend time planning, storyboarding, moodboarding and asking all the questions you could possibly think of.

Saturday, we'll hit the ground running. By the end of the day, the website's structure will be defined, the copy written, and the plan for launch settled on. We'll have presented and settled on a visual identity direction, and completed all video production.

Sunday, we build as needed: business cards, pitch decks, assets for web and video, etc. By the end of the day, we've launched the site, organized everything we've created, and put the finishing touches on the video.

What should I expect?

Designer? You'll report to the design director assigned to the project, creating an inspirational identity to match the project's ambition. As we get closer to the end of the project, you'll be designing assets as the client needs them, ensuring that the team sticks to the brand guidelines developed over the course of the project.

Videographer? Pretty easy schedule here—to make sure that we hit our deadlines, pre-production is Friday, production is Saturday and post-production is Sunday. We'll have a long (2-3) minute cut, as well as social media and motion pieces to help the nonprofit launch well.

Copywriter? You are the most versatile talent that we'll have. From scriptwriting, to outreach emails, to tone and voice and content strategy, to copywriting for posters and pitch decks and all-of-the-above, you'll have a chance to speak into the life of the project.

Strategist? Because strategy is typically preliminary to the creative kick-off, you have some options. If you'd like to help with the brief development prior to the weekend kicking off, we'd love that. But you also have the chance to participate in a ride-along, gaining skills in production or design management as you'd like. As well, we'd welcome passion as a writer or to contribute ideas over the course of the weekend for comms or content strategy, helping us make sure things are on-brief and on-brand.

Web Developer? This is a bit tricky, because of the timeline and wide variety of possible skills. We'll have a technical director to lead the project, and they'll be helping to plan out the project and assign talent to tasks as needed. Agile af. Come join the team!

Student? We've got limited spaces for students. Sign up, and we'll reach out to you directly for a brief vetting and we'll let you know if there are remaining spots. We will ask you to leave if you show up unregistered. We do hope you understand—it's only cause we're attempting to ensure high quality for all work accomplished during the weekend. No hard feelings.


** We will vet all talent that applies to join the weekend to ensure great quality for the nonprofit. We also have limited spots total, and registering for the event doesn't necessarily mean participation. For example, if we have too many designers, etc.
