Become the best boss your reports have ever had.

Maybe you just received your first headcount or were promoted to lead your current team. Maybe you're mid-way through onboarding a direct report. Or maybe you've been managing for years but still feel like you're doing everyone's job for them and are left feeling overwhelmed, with no time or energy to focus on the strategic and creative work you’re passionate about. - How do I balance my role as an individual contributor but bring up others at the same time?

Join us for our two-day Manager Training with Refound’s CEO, Jonathan Raymond — Author of Good Authority: How to Become the Leader Your Team is Waiting For, and Astrid Schanz-Garbassi, Product Development Lead and Facilitator at Refound. Here's a sketch of what this event will look like:

Day One — Inhabiting Authority: Facilitating accountability and giving high-quality feedback

As a participant, you’ll develop your skills in delivering high-value feedback, establishing a cadence of effective one-on-one's, and learn how to foster a culture of personal accountability on your team. Through a combination of teaching, small group discussion and drills, you’ll come away with a clear picture of how you can manage in this new way and some clear metrics to make sure you stay on track.

Your main takeaway from Day 1 will be knowing how to use the The Accountability Dial — a five step process for initiating and deepening a feedback conversation that leads to personal ownership.

Day Two — Applying Authority: Manifestations in core responsibilities

On Day 2, we’ll dive deep into the Refound philosophy to see how it applies to the wide (and daunting!) range of responsibilities that come with people managing, including but not limited to:

  • Writing job descriptions
  • Interviewing
  • Onboarding
  • Handling compensation conversations
  • Promotions
  • Terminations
  • Offboarding

Rather than feeling like your management style is a mish-mosh of tools that don’t necessarily go together, you’ll come away with a perspective and inner confidence that you can apply to any situation that comes up in your day.

You'll also have the opportunity to build relationships with fellow people managers at other organizations and get access to 6-months of follow up content, private webinars, and micro-mentoring from Jonathan and the Refound Team.

Our teaching style.

Nobody is born a good people manager. Great leaders — like great athletes, musicians, and performers — go through hours of deliberate training, constantly falling short of the goal and making the tiniest adjustments, to acquire the skills and instincts to perform at the top of their game. We've got a philosophy, but our focus is on the drills and scales that can be repeated over and over in the real moments of your real day at work … to become the best bosses we can be.

The experience lasts much longer than the two-day event.

Your ticket includes 6-months of follow up micro-mentoring as well as access to a set of tools to help you track your progress with each direct report over time. This will ensure that you have repeated opportunities to deepen your understanding of Refound principles, reflect on how you’re doing so far, and take action if you’re falling short of where you hoped to be. You’ll also build relationships with fellow people managers at other organizations — a gift that will keep on giving throughout your journey as a manager and your career.

The cost of this course is $2,750. Ask your boss or HR rep about what education stipend may be available to you.
