|Dr. Koka is Professor of Dentistry, Department of Dental Specialties at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. As a consultant in the Division of Prosthodontics at Mayo Clinic, Dr. Koka maintains a 4-day a week practice limited to fixed, implant and removable prosthodontics. Dr. Koka received the DDS degree in 1989 from the University of Michigan, the MS in Prosthodontics degree in 1991 from the University of Michigan and the PhD degree from the University of Nebraska in 1999. Dr. Koka has received numerous teaching awards from dental students and his scholarly work has been published in a wide array of international journals and books. Dr. Koka is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a member of a variety of dental professional organizations. Born and reared in England, Dr. Koka’s hobbies include playing soccer, cricket and golf as well as being an active runner.|
"The mouth and the body: when, how and why does osteoporosis matter to the practicing dentist."
Course Information: This course discusses oral-systemic links with a focus on the relationship between osteoporosis and oral cavity since a number of possible interactions exist between the jaw bones and systemic bone activity.
Course Objectives: Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the strength of interaction between systemic osteoporosis and the oral cavity and how the interactions affect clinical practice
