The Department of Parish Vitality and Mission is happy to announce that the Annual Golden Wedding Anniversary Mass will be on Sunday, September 16, 2018, at 2:45 p.m. Cardinal Blase J. Cupich will preside over this special Mass where 500 couples will rejoice in their 50th wedding anniversary. Location is TBD. Stay tuned.

Do you know where the mass for Golden Wedding will take place?

We currently do not have a set location. If you plan to attend as a celebrant, please save the date by registering.

Once a Parish is determined, will we be notified?

Yes, an email will go out with Parish and location information.

By what date do you plan to know the location?

We will know of the location by June 2018.

Registration Information

How can we register and RSVP for the Mass?

There are several options for a couple to register for the Golden Wedding Anniversary Mass. The couple or a family member can register online or a couple can call a parish and ask the parish to register them for the event.

Information on registration will be sent out to parishes in mid-May to assist couples in registration for the Golden Wedding event.

What information do I need to register?

Couples attending the Golden Wedding Anniversary Mass will need to provide the couple’s first and last names, an e-mail address, a phone number, a mailing address, and the date of their wedding.

What if I want to register my spouse and I but we do not have an e-mail address?

If you don’t have an e-mail address, you may be able to give the e-mail address of your children or a friend.

Is there a cost to attend Mass?

There is no cost to register and attend the event. We do ask for a free will offering of couples.

Will I receive a physical invitation?

A physical invitation will be mailed no later than August 4, 2018.

Will I receive confirmation I registered?

When you register for the event or the parish assists you in registering for the event a confirmation e-mail is sent to the address given by the couple.

Event Questions

What time should we be there?

We ask couples to arrive no earlier than 2 p.m. There will be enough parking available at the parish

Is there reserved seating?

There is open seating for all Jubilarian couples attending the Mass. Handicap seating will be available near the front of the Parish.

Do we need tickets?

No tickets are needed.

I have trouble walking. Is there assistance for me?

We will have individuals outside the Parish along the curb to help people get in and out of their cars and assist them into the Church. We will have pews reserved toward the front of Church for those who have trouble walking. If you need more details about this seating area, please contact us at 312.534.8351

What do we wear?

Please wear your Sunday best. Some couples do come in evening gowns and tuxedos, but that is not necessary. Feel free to wear a corsage or boutonniere if you would like. We encourage you to celebrate your wedding anniversary!

Should I wear white?

No, you don’t need to wear white.

What time does Mass end?

Mass generally ends around 3:45 p.m. Couples are allowed to take photos in the Parish shortly after Mass until preparation for the 6:00 p.m. Mass begins.

Will the Mass be broadcasted anywhere?

We will be streaming the Mass live via YouTube on the day off the Mass. A YouTube video will be available after the Mass. Please visit to find the live streaming link on the day of the Golden Wedding Anniversary.

What if my spouse and I can’t attend the Mass?

We understand that you may have other plans or that an emergency may come up. We will be sending certificates out to all Jubilarian couples after the Mass regardless of whether or not they were in attendance

Can we invite other couples?

If you know of other couples celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary, then we would love to have them celebrate with us. You will be able to register for the Golden Wedding Anniversary Mass either on your own or through the parish office. We have asked parish offices to assist in this process.

What if I no longer live in Chicago but celebrated my wedding there 50 years ago?

If you are able and willing to come to Chicago to celebrate your 50 year wedding anniversary, then come and join us! We have had couples in the past travel from out of state to celebrate in Chicago.

Will we receive a certificate recognizing our 50th Wedding anniversary?

All certificates will be mailed a few weeks after the Mass whether a couple attended the event or was not able to attend.

Will there be a collection at Mass?

A donation envelope will be sent to you with your certificate after the Mass.

What happens if we can no longer attend at the last minute?

We understand that there are things that come up at the last minute or there may be a family emergency. We will be mailing certificates out to all couples after the Mass..
