Event description

Description

Celebrate with us! The Golden Leaf Awards recognize dedicated and community-minded people who have worked to exemplify excellence in inclusion, employment, advocacy, and support on behalf of citizens in Clark County who have developmental disabilities.

Our First Annual Golden Leaf Award ceremony will take place on Wednesday, October 17, at 11:30 a.m. at the Courtyard By Marriott in Springfield. Our guest speaker will be Chris Lucas. Tickets are $25 per person, or $250 for a table of eight.

Chris Lucas is a professional actor, author, historian, and motivational speaker. In his thirty year career as an actor, Chris has appeared in several co-starring and featured roles on television, in movies, in video games and on stage including such shows as “As The World Turns,” “MTV’s Celebrity Deathmatch,” “One Life To Live,” “Medieval Times,” “Cake Boss,” “Spin City,” and “30 Rock.”

Chris is also the co-author of the best-selling book “Seeing Home: The Ed Lucas Story” – released by Simon & Schuster and Derek Jeter Publishing in April 2015, and soon to be adapted into a major motion picture. It’s the story of his father, Ed Lucas, who had to overcome several obstacles including blindness, discrimination and the battle to win custody of Chris and his brother back from the courts after they took them away simply because he was disabled. Despite all this, Ed has achieved his dreams and has enjoyed a 60 year career as an Emmy winning broadcaster. Chris has had a front row seat for most of it and shares his father’s story in a moving way.
